Muthati

We are a group of 25 people on 16 bikes set off on a on a day’s Bike trip to Muthati on Sunday, 8th Jan 2012, organized by RSBYA Bengalooru.
Muthati is a village on the banks on Kaveri river about 100 kms away from Bengalooru. The river flows through a series of rocks here at Muthati. This place is surrounded by lovely hills and dense forest which is the home of the Kaveri Wildlife Sanctuary.

Early morning at 7 we assembled at Meenkashi temple on Bannerghatta road and. Then we used NICE road to reach Kanakapura and drive towards Muthati. Muthati is about 100 kms away from Bangalore and it takes about 3 hours to reach from south Bangalore.
The road is good if not best once we leave the Bengalooru city limits and it’s a breeze till Kanakpura.  At Sathanur we should take left turn and that straight road leads us to Mutahti and Kaveri river Camp (Bhemeshwari) in around 30 minutes. From here one can also head towards Mekedatu taking another left. The road from Sathanur to Muthati is a narrow one with some dangerous curves. This road however offers quite scenic views of the countryside and some peaceful and quiet drive.
In Muthati there are some beautiful sandy banks for some fun and play. It was bit crowded when we reached there; so we decided to cross Bheemeshwari and drive ahead looking for a better less crowded scenic river bank. After 15-20 minutes of vrooming our bikes we found a quite place and luckily there were no people. We spent some good time here playing in water and photo offs. It is bit dangerous to swim in the waters.
Muthati s good place for one day's picnic. Here we can sit and relax on the river bank and play. For river Rafting Bheemeshwari Fishing camp is the place, but you need to do the booking in advance in Bangalore. This camp is 5 kms ahead of Muthati.

Route: Bengalooru - Harohalli - Kanakapura - Sathanur - Muthati

Breakfast:  There are rarely any good restaurants after crossing Kanakapura, so it is better to have your breakfast in Kanakapura or carry your breakfast box with you.
Lunch: It is better to carry home cooked Lunch; however we can get some food in Muthati in small restaurants, but do not expect good hygiene and taste. There are some small shops selling beverages and some snacks too.

Best Time to Visit:
Best time to visit Muthati is after the monsoons, during the months of Aug to December when river will be having lot of water.

Places around: Chunchi falls, Mekedatu (sangam).
